Thank you for your interest in joining the New City Fire Engine Company No. 1. To be eligible for acceptance, you must be 18 years of age or older, or 16 with parent/guardian permission. You must be a New City Fire District resident for more than one year, or a property owner for three months. After receipt of this request you will be contacted to setup a meeting with a member of the recruitment committee. At that meeting if you have an interest in becoming a member then a detailed application packet will be provided to you. We ask that you submit that detailed application packet to your contact or into the mailbox near the electronic sign at the firehouse. That packet will be reviewed by the investigative committee and a background check will be performed. Someone will contact you with information about scheduling an appointment with our District Fire Surgeon. On completion of your background check, reviewing your application and successfully passing the medical physical by our District Fire Surgeon you’ll be invited to be sworn in at one of our monthly Company meetings. As a member of the New City Fire Engine Company No. 1 you’ll be required to complete the basic and Intermediate Firefighter Courses within an 18 month period given at the Rockland Fire Training Center (FTC) and you must maintain good standing within the Department by responding to 35% of all firematic functions each year for the first five years of membership.
