Since 1888, New City Fire Engine Company No. 1 proudly serves the firematic needs of the hamlet of New City. Our ranks are comprised entirely of volunteer firefighters, who sacrifice their energy, time and personal safety to protect the lives and property of our community.

NCFD is looking for committed people to
join our ranks and proudly serve in the Volunteer Fire Service.

Applicants must: Be a resident of the New City Fire District for 1 year, or a property owner and resident for 3 months preceding the date of application. AND
Be at least age 18.

Applicants between ages 16 and 18 can join as a junior member.

Winter Safety Tips:

» Recycle accumulated newspapers. Do not leave in home near a heat source.

» Do not leave cooking food unattended. If you must leave, turn off all cooking appliances.

» Are there any old oily rags you can get rid of? This is a good time to start a fresh shoeshine rag and a new furniture polishing cloth.

» Keep all combustible materials at least 3 feet away from any heaters - space heaters need space.

» When plugging in electric heaters, make sure that the outlet was designed to handle the load. Be safe; do not plug anything else into the socket with the heater.
